If you are an iPhone owner you should be aware of the helpful options Apple offers in health-related applications. The Medical ID feature allows anyone assisting in an emergency, namely first responders, to view relevant medical information on your phone’s home page without the use of your password if you have included it in the iPhone’s “Health” application. The information you can include is your preferred emergency contacts, preexisting conditions, allergies, and your blood type. You may even use your Health application to register as an organ donor through Donate Life.

Although this program is not a replacement for an Advance Health Care Directive drafted by an attorney, it may be something to think about reviewing further on the official Apple website and sharing with your loved ones.
